Young Reporters for the Environment
2019-20 Competition Exposure - Competitors Exhibition
.
Local winners are about to be selected!
Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) opened a call in November 2019 for young participants of this international program at the island level. The series of educational workshops in journalism was held in San Juan and for the first time in Mayaguez, with over 35 participants. A National Jury will choose the local winners who will then go on to the international competition in August 2020. We thank the Segarra Boerman e Hijos Foundation and the Integro Foundation for their sponsorship of this program, as well as the collaboration of the Mayaguez Youth Library, the house of YRE in the Oeste and the support of "Ciencia en Popa" of the Law School-UPR in the workshops in San Juan.
Three works from Puerto Rico are already shortlisted: "Biomimicry", "Ocean Acidification" and "Once a Month".

GonzĆ”lez Rivera were judged by an international jury and considered the best on the island. Ishbel's report entitled āCoastal erosion and its relation to climate change and human interventionā received 3rd place in written report between the ages of 19-25. On the other hand, Ana received an honorable mention for choosing a new and interesting topic in her report āThe dangers of a bright nightā. Congratulations Ishbel and Ana!
