How to organize the Environmental Committee?

  • In a school or educational institution with large numbers of students, it can be difficult to involve and inform the whole school of environmental research activities and results. The EE program is designed to be flexible. The coordinator should think about how it will work in his school, for example the Environmental Committee could be related to the school council or an existing environmental club.

  • It is important to decide how the Environmental Committee will keep the entire school community informed about the decisions, projects and activities in which they participate. You can create a bulletin board, a website like a blog, or even general assemblies involving the entire school community.

  • The composition of the School Committee must be 50% students. The remaining 50% must be made up of the rest of the school community.

Role of the environmental committee

  • Make sure the whole school knows about the Eco Escuela program.

  • Conduct environmental audits at the beginning and at the end of the school year.

  • Participate in decision-making, direct and take note of scheduled meetings.
